Sip, Savor, and Create! Poetry

Writing is good for your mind and your heart. In this workshop, we will explore practicing mindfulness and gratitude through writing poetry. Through a series of fun, short writing activities, participants will learn techniques to get ideas down on paper or the screen, and then turn those ideas into a draft of a poem.

Pop-up Writing Workshop

Join writer Gabrielle Brant Freeman at Moxie Pop for some flash writing! Explore a new writing prompt -- the color of emotion, think/pair/share/, scent memory, ekphrasis, confession (oooooh!) -- every 30 minutes. Come to Moxie Pop at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, and/or 7:30 this First Friday and kick start some poems/ flash fiction/ stories!

Every 30 minutes: hear original poetry or flash fiction, get a prompt, do some writing, share out (if you want to!). Bring your journal or a cocktail napkin and a pen. Let's write!

I am the Featured Poet for the March First Tuesday Open Mike at the Trent River Coffee Company in New Bern.  After my reading, the mike is open for other poets who sign up. The First Tuesday Poetry Open Mike is a free event sponsored by the Nexus Poets, a group of Eastern North Carolina poets promoting poetry in the area.

Join Winston--Salem Writers for ‘Poetry in Plain Sight, Live!' featuring poems from the Fall seaon: September, October, and November.
