Let’s Play! Making Daily Writing Fun

Staring down a blank page can be a stressful and frustrating experience. It can make the act of writing difficult and make daily practice or journaling seem like a chore. Sometimes, it is useful to purposefully remind ourselves that writing, in whatever genre we choose, is something we enjoy, that writing can be fun! One way to do this is to add an element of tactile play. This can be anything from rolling dice, to molding clay, to dealing cards, to making silly faces out of found materials.

In this workshop, participants from beginners to experienced writers will add to their writing prompt toolbox using elements of play. We will have at least three tabletop game influenced writing prompts with writing time. Participants will have the opportunity to share what they have written.

Shel Silverstein wrote, “put something silly in the world that ain’t been there before.” Please bring something to write with and on, and come ready to play!
